Casey Yoklic, First Grade

Welcome to the fabulous first grade! My name is Casey Yoklic (pronounced like chocolate with a Y in the beginning and a C in the end) and I am thrilled to be here at Saint John the Baptist School. I hold a BA in Elementary Education from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and a M. Ed in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in Portland, OR. I felt called at an early age to be a teacher and truly believe it is my vocation. My mother often reminds me that as young as 5 years old, I would line-up my stuffed animals and re-teach the lessons of the day. I was and am blessed and privileged to grow up with a fantastic mother who was also teacher. We both share a devotion to Mary and The Little Flower. Small acts of kindness really can make a difference.

I enjoy teaching at a Catholic School because I love to share the Catholic Faith and the Church’s Teachings and Traditions. I believe Science and Math are our ways of understanding all that God created which is why those two are my favorite subjects. I enjoy STEM projects and challenging the students to think like engineers to solve problems.

I have a husband, a daughter, a dog, and a cat. The five of us have moved all around the USA. No matter where we have lived, I have found outlets for my greatest passion outside of family and education: dance. I have taught dance, taken dance, or danced in some capacity for over 20 years and have no intention to stop any time soon.
