I feel honored to have the opportunity to teach in a school committed to Catholic formation and academic excellence. This will be my 16th year teaching first grade at St. John’s. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Athens State University. I am certified to teach grades K5-6. I believe God should be intertwined throughout the day in all subject areas. The use of projects, technology, music, hands-on-activities and cooperative learning, helps to encourage and motivate children to achieve their highest level and develop into lifelong learners. Open communication and a positive relationship with parents are very important. I believe in authentic assessments, differentiated instruction and assertive discipline. I encourage positive behavior and promote my class as a family of God who loves and helps each other throughout the day.
I want to tell you a little about my family. I have been happily married for 16 years to my high school sweetheart, Chris. We were married at our school’s church. My husband and I were blessed with our son, Cody. Cody is 10 years old. I have two other children that are dogs, Jackson and Jessie. They are Chocolate Labs and love to go on our boat. We also have a Guinea Pig, Smores. Besides teaching, I love sewing, fishing, going to my lake house and spending time outdoors with my family. I love teaching so much that I also teach children and adult sewing classes. I have been teaching sewing classes for over 15 years.
