Sheila Chiskowski, 1st Grade

My Husband Brian and I have been married for 17 years and have 2 beautiful children attending St. John’s. Abby is an 8 th grader and Alex is a 7 th grader this year. We moved to the area from Rhode Island 12 years ago. Since then, the Huntsville/Madison area has been Our Home Sweet Home - a wonderful place for our children to grow up.

I am truly blessed to be a teacher at St. John’s Catholic School. My journey began at Westfield State University where I completed a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education and Psychology as well as a Masters in Elementary Education. I enjoyed six years as a full time Elementary Teacher in addition to two years as a substitute in both public and Catholic schools. I temporarily left the teaching profession so I could be a stay at home Mom for 7 wonderful years and enjoyed every moment of that time with our children!

When our children were a little older I began to miss teaching and became a Teacher’s Aide here at St. John’s School. After five years as an aide, I was ready to return to teaching full time. I am looking forward to a great year with the first graders! My teaching style includes a variety of methods to get the students excited to learn. It is also important being at a Catholic School, where we can use examples from our faith throughout the day to enhance our learning and understanding.
