Hello, my name is Sandy Bukovac. I have lived in Madison, Alabama for ten years with my husband, Bob, and three daughters, Joylyn, Serena, and Bobbi. My husband and I were both born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I attended Slippery Rock University and earned a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education.
I was an elementary teacher for twelve years prior to having my children. I taught 4th grade, 6th grade, and then 1st grade for eight years. I have worked at the Good Shepherd’s MMO as a pre-kindergarten teacher for six years. This will be my fourth year teaching pre-kindergarten at St. John’s.
My philosophy is learning should be fun. I like to use puppets, sing, and play games to enhance my lessons. Our curriculum includes Loyola- God Made the World, and Scott Foresman, OWL – “Open World of Learning”. I also incorporate “The Letter of the Week” and thematic teaching such as family, fire safety, dental health, opposites, and seasonal activities. In addition, the children participate in the music, art, physical education, library, computer and Spanish enrichment classes. Our class rules are “The Three Bees” – Bee Kind, Bee Polite, and Bee Ready (to help and learn).
I am so blessed to teach St. John’s pre-kindergarten class! The school has given me the wonderful opportunity to do what I love most, teach and nurture children. St. John’s is also my beloved parish. This will be my tenth year of teaching 2nd grade Relgious Education.
