Saint Vincent de Paul:  Did you know that students are encouraged to bring a canned good to mass on Friday?  Our 8th grade students gather the cans and deliver them to the St. Vincent de Paul Society food pantry.  Please consider having your child(ren) participate in this each week!  Let’s fill up those 2 carts!

Perfect Attendance Please note that we will no longer recognize Perfect Attendance at the end of year awards’ day.  I realize this will disappoint some of you, however, I strongly feel students should be at school when they are healthy and do not want this award to encourage anyone otherwise.  Thanks!

If you would like to join your student for lunch, that will start after Labor Day.  Please call or e-mail (jcleary@stjohnb.com)l by 8:30 am.

All absences for students will be excused with a note that has your signature.  While we appreciate the email notification, it is not considered an acceptable form of excuse.

Caldecott Reading Program:  All students in the second grade who read 15 Caldecott Award or Caldecott Honor books, gold and silver medals, during the school year will receive a certificate on honors day in May.  The books may be checked out from the Saint John the Baptist Catholic School Library or any other library.  Books can be counted only once toward this award.  Each student must keep a written record of the books read and turn in the list to his or her homeroom teacher, and the list will be forwarded to the librarian between May first and May eighth.

Newbery Reading Program:  All students in the third grade and above who read 15 Newbery Award or Newbery Honor books, gold and silver medals, during the school year will receive a certificate on honors day in May.  The books may be checked out from the Saint John the Baptist Catholic School Library or any other library.  Books can be counted only once toward this award.  Each student must keep a record of the books read and turn in the list to his or her homeroom teacher, and the list will be forwarded to the librarian between May first and May eighth.

BOXTOPS BONUS:  While shopping at your favorite grocery or warehouse store, look for your BoxTops products which may have two, three or five extra BoxTops on the packaging.  Some of these bonus BoxTops are in the form of a certificate which must be cut from the packaging.  Please send the complete certificate in with your child along with your other BoxTops and Labels.  Thank you!

Spirit Wear Tee Shirt Sale
Spirit wear tees are sold by the 8th grade class to help fund their annual team building and spirit uplifting trip to Mentone.  This year classes are not required to purchase a certain color.  You may choose your own color tee!   Tees are available for students, parents, teachers, staff, coaches, siblings, grandparents and other St. John’s fans. All the tie dye and solid color tees will be silk screened with white ink with the design shown to the left.  Please be careful in placing your order to receive the tee you intend to order.  Orders are due by August 29th!  No extra tees will be ordered.  Don’t miss out!

Note: Students will be given opportunities to wear spirit wear tees throughout the school year in place of their regular uniform.  If you have any questions or you need an order form, please contact Michelle Kloske at threegirlygirls@hotmail.com
