Parents,
Tuesday, Aug. 26th, Madison City will hold an election.  As you know we are a polling place and I would like to inform you of several items related to this event.

  1. Elections will take place in the cafeteria.
  2. Morning care will be in the Knight’s Room, please walk your students in if you arrive before 7:20 am.
  3. Students will drop off at the gym door or the front door of the school…do not drop students at the cafeteria door.
  4. Students will go to the Knight’s room until 7:35.  After that, they will go to classrooms.
  5. We will have adults stationed in the hallways for drop off after 7:20 am.
  6. All doors leading to the school will be locked throughout the day.  Voters will be separated from the student body.  When students have p.e. class, they will be escorted by an adult.
  7. We have your child(ren)’s safety as our utmost priority while we fulfill our civic duty.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
  8. I believe we will be able to move elections to the parish basement once the new building is complete!

Saint Vincent de Paul:  Did you know that students are encouraged to bring a canned good to mass on Friday?  Our 8th grade students gather the cans and deliver them to the St. Vincent de Paul Society food pantry.  Please consider having your child(ren) participate in this each week!  Let’s fill up those 2 carts!

Perfect Attendance:  Please note that we will no longer recognize Perfect Attendance at the end of year awards’ day.  I realize this will disappoint some of you, however, I strongly feel students should be at school when they are healthy and do not want this award to encourage anyone otherwise.  Thanks!

If you would like to join your student for lunch, that will start after Labor Day.  Please call or e-mail (jcleary@stjohnb.com)l by 8:30 am.

All absences for students will be excused with a note that has your signature.  While we appreciate the email notification, it is not considered an acceptable form of excuse.

Youth Protection for Adults-Part I training will be held on September 24, 2008 from 6:00-8:00.  Please call the school at 722-0772 or email ssmith@stjohnb.com if you are interested in attending.

BoxTops & Labels Committee News:  It’s time!!!  Gather up all those BoxTops, Campbell’s UPCs and Tyson Project A+ labels which you have been clipping and collecting all summer and send them in to your child’s classroom.  The first BoxTops Classroom Collection Competition is beginning this week and you can help your child’s class get off to a great start in the competition.  If you would like your family’s small collection bag returned to you for re-use, please write your name on the bag and we will return it to you.

Publix is starting this school year with special BoxTops promotions.  Bonus BoxTops Peels Offs are back at Publix.  Purchase any 6, 8 or 12 qualifying BoxTops products with the Bonus BoxTops Peel-Offs on them, and earn up to 100 BONUS Box Tops for St. John’s.   Also, look for specific products at Publix which have two additional Bonus BoxTops on the packaging.
