Catholic Schools Week

“Catholic Schools – Dividends for Life”

January 31 – February 6, 2010

Catholic Schools Week is an annual national celebration of the important role that Catholic elementary and secondary schools across the country play in providing a quality Catholic education for America's young people.  This year marks the 37th annual event of Catholic Schools Week which is a joint project of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The 2010 theme of “Catholic Schools – Dividends for Life” underscores the idea that a Catholic education is the best investment parents can make for their child(ren).  The four rays of the logo represent the beneficial aspects of a Catholic education, which are faith, knowledge, discipline and morals and how these aspects build a foundation of dividends that will last a lifetime.   While a Catholic education does include a financial sacrifice, it is an investment in the future of the child and their contribution to the world.   Carrying this theme forward, as part of Catholic Schools Week, National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools will be observed Wednesday, February 3rd. National Appreciation Day was established to encourage supporters nationwide to showcase to elected officials the great accomplishments and contributions of Catholic schools. In Washington, a delegation of Catholic school students, teachers and parents will visit Capitol Hill to meet with congressional leaders to promote Catholic schools.

In celebration of Catholic Schools Week, St. John the Baptist Catholic School has planned various activities and events throughout the week of January 31-February 6.  They join 7,800 other Catholic Schools across the nation who are spreading the good news of a Catholic education.  Visit St. John’s schedule of events to see how our school is celebrating Catholic Schools Week!
